Mr.FATE's PLAY After Saying "Any Thing For You Ma'm"

"I will resume my blogging with some thing complex which will give me atleast some 4-5 blog posts!!! :D"

This is the thought which has been flashing my mind for the past week or so even till the time 9:20pm on 7th november 2010 with breezy weather indicating the upcoming "JAL" Cyclone and ofcourse cool Rahman's music playing in my "choco pie"(My PC)!!!

Thinking of sleeping and as a routine check up of the piled files in my NOTES folder of the desktop of my "Choco Pie" showed me a E-Book which is about 4 months old to my choco pie.

So,just started to flip through the pages with my mouse and my mind without actually concentrating.Feeling sleepy and some other music download on the way,I picked up all my strength and started the book and read the name with difficulty as "Any Thing For You Ma'm" and decided to read it atleast till I finish my download.

And after reading through some pages don't know where my sleep had gone,I found myself flipping each page to know what's waiting for me in the next page.And with no spoilers I would just introduce you the characters in the novel.The main character is "Tejaas Nirula",who is doing his final year of engineering in THE IIT-D and is self narrating his love story and his love "Shreya".And first 30-40 pages gives you the basic idea of what he is going to do and ofcourse my mind asked me to get the details of his "Modus-Operandi" to carry out his task of meeting his love who is about 2k miles south to him in India.The story is all about he crosses his hurdles and how "Mr.Fate" helps him knowingly or unknowingly to go closer and to get closer not only to his love,but also to her family and his professors.

What made me to go through the full story is the simple words of his narration which are not only easy to comprehend,but also interesting to continue further.Really a simple book which I had finished in 41/2 hours to write about this in my blog at this odd timing of 2:30 early morning!!!

And the bad if not the worst part is the "Indian Movie" kinda feel to the story as we typically see in Chetan's narration is really irritating at some parts,but really author Mr.Tushar Raheja had put his sincere efforts to bring this novel neatly without any obscene material and with such a simple narration.

And going to content part I had already hinted you that this is a Lover's trail to impress and after her approval to meet her.The narrator "Tejaas" is seen to describe his love in a poetic way everytime(And incidentally the song "Pachai Nirame/Pachadanamey" from "Alaipayuthey(Sakhi)" playing in my play list randomly for some time where the protagonist is seen describing her love and her dressing and all :D)

One thing is for sure.If you are a lover you would probably connected to this and enjoy this more than I did.But I,myself not being the one (:P :D) definetely not connected to this,but found it worth a read :)

WHY DO I WRITE?????(A MUST READ FOR EVERY BLOGGER)

This is an article written by George Orwell(A famous Writer Eric Arthur Blair,Beter Known By His Pen Name.(Click on Name For more details about him))

Orwell lists "four great motives for writing" which he feels exist in every writer. He explains that all are present, but in different proportions, and also that these proportions vary from time to time. They are as follows:

1. Sheer egoism- Orwell argues that many people write simply to feel clever, to "be talked about, to be remembered after death, to get your own back on grown-ups in childhood, etc." He says that this is a great motive, although most of humanity is not "acutely selfish", and that this motive exists mainly in younger writers. He also says that it exists more in serious writers than journalists, though serious writers are "less interested in money".
2. Aesthetic enthusiasm- Orwell explains that present in writing is the desire to make one's writing look and sound good, having "pleasure in the impact of one sound on another, in the firmness of good prose or the rhythm of a good story." He says that this motive is "very feeble in a lot of writers" but still present in all works of writing.
3. Historical impulse- He sums this up by simply stating this motive is the "desire to see things as they are, to find out true facts and store them up for the use of posterity."
4. Political purpose- Orwell writes that "no book is genuinely free from political bias", and further explains that this motive is used very commonly in all forms of writing in the broadest sense, citing a "desire to push the world in a certain direction" in every person. He concludes by saying that "the opinion that art should have nothing to do with politics is itself a political attitude."

HATS OFF.......

Our media had given SUPERB coverage about the terrorist attacks which happened in Mumbai some months back popularly known as 26/11 attacks by our media!!! And of course everyone of us know how much action they did to improve their damn TRP ratings!!!!

But I am about to share something which most you might not had seen earlier!!! I got this article when I am browsing through internet!!! The information is about the famous industrialist whose five star hotel was badly damaged in the terrorist attacks and I think there's no need of introducing him again.He is none other than Mr.TATA. Now take a look at this info which made me share with you:

Ratan Tata is the chairman of Indian Hotels who own the Taj Hotel Mumbai, which was the target of the terrorists on 26/11/08.


The following is really touching.

SALUTE TO MR. RATAN TATA

A. The Tata Gesture

1. All category of employees including those who had completed even 1 day as casuals were treated on duty during the time the hotel was closed.

2. Relief and assistance to all those who were injured and killed

3. The relief and assistance was extended to all those who died at the railway station, surroundings including the “Pav- Bha ji” vendor and the pan shop owners.

4. During the time the hotel was closed, the salaries were sent by money order.

5. A psychiatric cell was established in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences to counsel those who needed such help.

6. The thoughts and anxieties going on people’s mind was constantly tracked and where needed psychological help provided.

7. Employee outreach centers were opened where all help, food, water, sanitation, first aid and counseling was provided. 1600 employees were covered by this facility.

8. Every employee was assigned to one mentor and it was that person’s responsibility to act as a “single window” clearance for any help that the person required.

9. Ratan Tata personally visited the families of all the 80 employees who in some manner – either through injury or getting killed – were affected.

10. The dependents of the employees were flown from outside Mumbai to Mumbai and taken care off in terms of ensuring mental assurance and peace. They were all accommodated in Hotel President for 3 weeks.

11. Ratan Tata himself asked the families and dependents – as to what they wanted him to do.

12. In a record time of 20 days, a new trust was created by the Tatas for the purpose of relief of employees.

13. What is unique is that even the other people, the railway employees, the pedestrians who had nothing to do with Tatas were covered by compensation. Each one of them was provided subsistence allowance of Rs. 10K per month for all these people for 6 months.

14. A 4 year old granddaughter of a vendor got 4 bullets in her and only one was removed in the Government hospital. She was taken to Bombay hospital and several lacs were spent by the Tatas on her to fully recover her.

15. New hand carts were provided to several vendors who lost their carts.

16. Tata will take responsibility of life education of 46 children of the victims of the terror.

17. This was the most trying period in the life of the organization. Senior managers including Ratan Tata were visiting funeral to funeral over the 3 days that were most horrible.

18. The settlement for every deceased member ranged from Rs. 36 to 85 lacs [One lakh rupees tranlates to approx 2200 US $ ] in addition to the following benefits:

a. Full last salary for life for the family and dependents;

b. Complete responsibility of education of children and dependents – anywhere in the world.

c. Full Medical facility for the whole family and dependents for rest of their life.

d. All loans and advances were waived off – irrespective of the amount.

e. Counselor for life for each person

B. Epilogue

1. How was such passion created among the employees? How and why did they behave the way they did?

2. The organization is clear that it is not something that someone can take credit for. It is not some training and development that created such behaviour. If someone suggests that – everyone laughs

3. It has to do with the DNA of the organization, with the way Tata culture exists and above all with the situation that prevailed that time. The organization has always been telling that customers and guests are #1 priority

4. The hotel business was started by Jamshedji Tata when he was insulted in one of the British hotels and not allowed to stay there.

5. He created several institutions which later became icons of progress, culture and modernity. IISc is one such institute. He was told by the rulers that time that he can acquire land for IISc to the extent he could fence the same. He could afford fencing only 400 acres.

6. When the HR function hesitatingly made a very rich proposal to Ratan – he said – do you think we are doing enough?

7. The whole approach was that the organization would spend several hundred crore in re-building the property – why not spend equally on the employees who gave their life?

BODIES NEVER MADE IT TO THE GRAVE@ HAITI

Death is so common in the places where natural disaster occurs!Well I think I need not say about the earthquake which occurred some days back in haiti,a caribbean island.

The reality of death cannot be described in words or pictures in Haiti.The condition there is so horrible that even some of the government officials were gone missing.

The mass dumping grounds for bodies provide a surreal snapshot of what the earthquake has done to the people here-It has robbed them of their humanity.

At the national cemetery,port-au-prince's(capital city of Haiti)largest,scores of bodies never meade it to the graves.They were brought here to be left amid the concrete crypts,mourners and rubble of grave tones.

Cemetery actually implies a death with dignity,a calm passage into never ever returning world,a quiet end to a life whether it is well spent or not.But in haiti this does not seem so.The decency is swallowed by a cruel killer called "EARTH QUAKE"

Ok!Coming to the topic,Well most of u might have already seen the muvi 3-Idiots by now!Ain't I correct? And recently I came across a link when browsing net!Itz all about the lessons you have to learn/which 3-Idiots muvi is trying to teach u!!I felt it interesting and worth sharing!(Don't learn who cares :P.I am jus giving u da link!If u r interested just go through it!).

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything...
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded - and of the innocents who have no one to stand up for them

You see only what the media wants you to see
He sees the broken bodies lying around him

You stay at home and watch TV
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat

You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable
He crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minute nap, only to be awakened by gunfire

You sit there and judge him, saying the world is probably a worse place because of men like him
If only there were more men like him!

CHINESE PATRIOTISM,REALLY KUDOS TO THEM!

A Chinese guru to his student: "What will you do if you see Buddha and Confucious coming together?"

Student: "I will fall down in their feet and beg for knowledge."

Guru: "What if they are coming to attack China?"

Student: "I'll take my sword and cut their throats."

(I don't know if this story is true or a product of some creative brain, but next one is definitely a truth.)

An Indian Sikh restaurent owner living in China

He told a news channel that in China everyone is talking about business, progress, but in India there is no such spirit.

And it is a fact that despite keeping away from democracy by their leaders, Chinese people are very patriotic and therefore China is developing so fast. SHANGHAI, the most developed city of China, used to be fertile agriculture land a half century ago. But they took it from farmers, without facing any protest, and converted it in a city.

Well,read these 2 incidents somewhere.Donno how far the first one is true but definitely their patriotism should be appreciated unlike ours,who curse the political system and all for the present situation and never ever try to follow anything on their own.And definitely we never speak about the progress our country instead keep on commenting and making fun of the Indian systems.(Believe me I got some mails which degrade the police system and the railway system of our country and when asked the sender about them he replied that he sent them just for fun!Damn thing is that he is not even ashamed to say that and he even don't feel that he is degrading his own country and the country he lives in!)

And the story behind this is :

In March 1993 Kevin Carter made a trip to southern Sudan and took this photograph. The picture would later bring him the Pulitzer prize, but also death. The girl had stopped to rest while struggling to reach the refugee camp, nearby a vulture is waiting her to die. It is a horrific picture that gave people a true look at the dire condition in Sub-Saharan Africa. Kevin then came under a lot of scrutiny for spending over 20 minutes setting up the photo instead of helping the child. Three months after taking the photo, he committed suicide.I am giving even the picture of the photographer.
